Muscat Rosada Grapes - Now In Season - yum yum

Everybody loves a grape.

But have you ever tried a Muscat grape? One of the oldest varieties of grape and interestingly one of the only grape to produce wine with the same aroma as the grape itself. According to Wikipedia, Muscat grapes were a key component of the alcoholic beverage served at the funeral feast of King Midas and practically all families within the Vitis vinifera grape family are descended from the Muscat family.

Back to the grape itself ….

They’re out of this world. The most scented, sweet, floral, subtly deliciously luxurious grape I’ve ever tasted. Flavour-wise they are more elderflower than grape.

They don’t appear for long - a brief season and they’re gone until the next year. Waitrose are selling a stunning Muscat Rosada grape at the moment and I highly recommend you go and treat yourself to a punnet.

Sublime.
